Chung Shan Medical University Hospital was founded in 1966, and the Department of Surgery was established at the same time as the hospital’s founding.
CSMUH was evaluated as a medical center teaching hospital in the year of 2000, as a leading teaching hospital the colleagues of surgical department not only committed to the most advanced medical care, but also invest a lot of energy in the medical education. These are includes planning the surgical courses for medical students, clinical internships for medical students and subspecialty training for surgical residents.
During CSMUH strong supporting innovation in surgical services, introducing new medical concepts, advanced equipment, technology, staff expertise and teamwork to provide the public with a full range of surgical services.
As so many years the Department of Surgery has developed several sub-specialties, including General Surgery, Digestive Surgery, Breast Surgery and Endocrine Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Cardiovascular Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Plastic Surgery and the Transplant Center, Minimally Invasive Center, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Trauma team.
