The Division of Pulmonary Medicine was established in 1984 and there are eleven attending physicians currently who are responsible for the clinics and ordinary ward of Pulmonary Medicine, the first intensive care unit (ICU), subacute and chronic respiratory care ward. The main illness we manage include general chest disease (cough, hemoptysis, chest pain, dyspnea, asthma, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumoconiosis, pneumothorax, pleural effusion and pleural disease, etc.), chest infections (respiratory tract infections, pneumonia, tuberculosis, bronchiectasis, etc.), diagnosis and treatment of lung malignancy (chemotherapy, target therapy, immunotherapy, radiofrequency and microwave ablation of lung cancer) and critical care (ICU intensive care, use of ventilators, and respiratory therapy). We provide medical services including pulmonary function examination, chest echography, fiberoptic bronchoscopy examination and metallic stent implantation, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and EBUS-guided transbronchial needle aspiration, CT guide biopsy and ablation therapy (for lung tumor). We also offer integrated care for asthma and COPD including disease evaluation and education, drug device technique training, pulmonary rehabilitation, nutrition evaluation and education, smoking cessation and hospice care as needed. We pay attention to “patient-centered treatment” and “holistic health services” to treat our patients.
