Department of Neurology at Chung Shan medical university hospital was founded in 1984. In a short period of time, the department has become one of influential in the middle Taiwan. Since 2014, a functional group has established a responsibility of treating epilepsy conducted the first comprehensive epilepsy surgery in the central and southern Taiwan. With department growth, the clinical services became scattered throughout the intensive care units at Chun Shan.
The evolution of the department continues. Collaborative research laboratories have recently included the Biomedical Electronics Translational Research Center and Center for Neuromodulation Medical Electronics Systems, National Chiao Tung University, the National Chung-Hsing University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, and the National Laboratory Animal Center. The aims of our researches are not only to investigate the pathogenesis of epilepsy and dementia, but also to look for better solutions of treatment through neuromodulation.
