The Department of Orthopedic Surgery was established in 1966 with currently four physician assistants and thirteen attending physicians. These together make a medical term to provide our patients related services.
Services and Programs
The Department of Orthopedic Surgery comprises five divisions and offers a wide range of services.
General orthopedic surgery
Joint replacement surgery, Limb amputation, Bone tumor surgery, Osteomyelitis and Prosthetic joint infection.
Spinal surgery
Endoscopic discectomy of HIVD, Instrumentation and fusion for spondylolisthesis, Decompression and instrumentation for spinal stenosis, and Vertebroplasty for compression fracture of the spine.
Orthopaedic sports medicine
Arthroscopic surgery of sports injury, joint disorders and arthritis. Anterior/posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.
Orthopaedic traumatology
Complex peri-articular fractures, Post-traumatic deformity, Fracture nonunion and malunion, Open and closed reduction of fracture/dislocation, Fragility fractures
Hand and microsurgery
Fractures and nerve injuries of the upper extremity, Carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome, Ligament injury repair and reconstruction, Microsurgical flap reconstruction.
Each subfield is attended by a medical team led by specialists of the specific territory. As a department in the university hospital of Chung Shan University, we also commit to the missions of research and education in both basic and clinical medicine.
